Aaron Ivey

26Jun09

Let me begin this post by saying, I am not a music expert.  However, I know that there is a huge difference between worship music and any other music.  When I’m in my car listening to tunes on the radio – I, half the time, am oblivious to the words, and mostly appreciate songs that have a good beat.

But, with worship music – the most important part for me is the words that I’m singing.  At the Stone, they put the words up on the screen – and I love this because it allows me to focus on each and every word that I’m singing.  The songs that I love the most are the ones that, as I’m singing, I know that each word coming from my mouth is saturated with Truth – the good, hard, absolute kind of Truth.

Aaron Ivey’s new album, “Between the Beauty and Chaos,” is filled with these kind of words.  ”Let your kingdom come, and your will be done.  And all the earth will say and echo angels praise that you are God.”  ”You’re my sustaining breath.”  ”Your steadfast love is keeping us.” “A name so wonderful, with power to rend the Heavens and peace to still the storm.”

Yup, these are the kinds of words that as you’re singing – you can’t help but raise your hands in the air and pray that Jesus will come back so that you can stand before His throne and praise all day, all night, forever and ever.

So, go get you a copy.  And one for your mom and your roomie and your second cousin twice-removed.  Play it in your car, in your home, while you run, while you work. Blast it on a loudspeaker in your neighborhood.  I think you’ll love it.
