Shoeless Joe
Malachi doesn’t really wear shoes and hasn’t since he was born. The reasons for this are threefold:
1. Halim says that we are a “Korean household”, which means you leave your shoes at the front door when you come in. Since Malachi spends a lot of time at home, he cannot wear shoes – otherwise he would violate the strict Korean household code that is enforced.
2. He likes to put his toes in his mouth. Now, a day will come when that will no longer be socially acceptable for him, but – as of right now – he does it and it’s cute. Why would I want to deprive him of this hobby?
3. Shoes are just one more thing that you have to put on before heading out the door. I am always running at least 10 minutes late – if I put the shoes on, well, I would never make it out of the house.
But, Auntie Yuna came in town this weekend and she is disappointed that Malachi does not wear shoes, so she sought out an alternative solution . . . socks that look like sneakers. That’s right. These things exist. So Yuna bought him a little box that came with five different colors. We put the green ones on him and, I have to admit, they look pretty cute.
But, due to the amount of time that it took to get the shoe-socks on, Malachi had to go without clothes that day . . .

OF COURSE Yuna would be the one to get Malachi his first “shoes”!!!!! ;-) And, I laughed out loud at your last line about no-clothes day. I’m telling you, you have turned hilarious in your old age! ;-)
I must say, in this picture, I think Malachi (in the face) looks a little bit like me! That is one handsome baby!
hi angela, he is super cute. i came across your blog and i am loving reading it. you are hilarious.
I’m cracking up – it’s so true..I weigh the choices of clothes or shoes everyday – and not just for the baby(s). Hah! I love the shoe socks…Jack’s just roll off his feet though????
I was just noticing that Malachi is sporting a new ‘do! I’m liking the slicked to one side…he looks older, wiser even! :)
